“On “Gravity,” Italian producer and recent Red Bull Music Academy graduate Broke One doesn’t waste any time crafting his statement of intent. Grafting an oft-worn Brandy sample atop a drifting organ, he milks the vocal snippet for all it’s worth, flexing the “how you make me feel” hook while allowing the music to twist and morph behind it. The track leans hard on a nostalgic vibe, owing parts of its sound to bygone days of classic Chicago and Detroit, but still carves out a small niche for Broke One to simply play around and have fun along the way. “Gravity” is the closing tune from Waiting Lines (artwork above), the producer’s forthcoming EP for Bmkltsch. The record is due to arrive on April 9.”

“The seventh and last release of 2012 sees its closer by the Los Angeles-bred Urulu. In My Life is a carefully crafted work dwelling within the darker side of house music, an ode to times of years past, and an overall respect to the midnight marauder. EP opener and title track, “In My Life,” may be the most grounded of the two; a slow building, sub-cringing 4/4 with percussive elements lending to early UK garage. The intricacy of this track can be found within its airy vocal work, blending seamlessly over each filtered pad and delayed organ. B-side backing, “These Days,” can otherwise be contrasted as the dancier of the two. Skittery percussion combined with prominent chord stabs lay this one properly onto the dance floor. To tie the release together we brought in RBMA alumni Broke One to remix the A-side. The Italian born producer lends the original his atmospheric pad work and sophisticated arpeggios, maturing “In My Life” into a peak time, club thumper”

Mike Mago sent over a cut from his recently released Galactic EP, a remix from Italian producer Broke One. This version of “Galactic” boasts a glittering melody that dances around in the higher octaves, a robotic voice that works out the mid frequencies, and a pumping bassline that drives the low end. The tune creates a massive space with its big-room arrangement and detailed sounds—like, say, the mechanical crickets tucked in between the dusky elements—and makes for an ideal tune for any post-sunset playlist.

Cordova’s Paradigm came to my attention when a friend posted a Soundcloud link on Facebook. I immediately fell in love with the track and had to pick it up for Televizion. It’s a bold step in another direction for the label but I had to have it.
Remixes come in an exciting package here with Broke One ticking all the underground house boxes, perfectly shaping Roxy’s vocals around a trademark groove. Alto Soul take it somewhere else with a laidback smooth version injected with their magic. Last of all, Greg Wilson’s new buddy Fingerman re-edit’s the original to great effect providing a completely fresh arrangement of the original.

Zimmer’s music is a feel good, body-warming and enthusiastic wave that goes straight to the heart and stays until the end of the night. Growing up between France and California, this young producer is a smooth combination of both worlds: west coast carefree attitude with a twist of Parisian chic.

Blending 70s Disco, 80s Funk and 90s House, his influences range from George Benson to Crystal Waters. His favorite contemporary producers include Aeroplane, Moullinex and Azari & III.

When not producing, he also DJs in low-ceiling clubs and fancy parties, making sure the crowd always has a good time. He cultivates the art of mixing à la Larry Levan, playing from 100 to 125 bpm.

After releasing his raved debut EP ‘Horizontal disco’ while Summer was ending in 2011, a remix packae was build to bring the tracks back to the dancefloor. A deluxe line up of remixers were called in: Mercury, Moullinex, Xinobi, Moon Boots, Lou Teti, Broke One. Results were beyond our expectations! Perfect balance between nu disco crowd pleasers and house floorfillers.

Zimmer’s “Horizontal Disco - Remixes” is available on a 200 copies (only) limited edition 12” in clear vinyl and digital.
